Minneapolis South Rotary Club welcomes its first exchange student
The Minneapolis South Rotary Club welcomed its first exchange student on August 16.

Lisa arrived safely from Germany and was met by her host family — the Haakensons — country officer John Spilane, and club members Ellie Emanuel and Lynn Keillor. Another new exchange student, Lorena from Paraguay, was also there to welcome Lisa.
Lisa was tired but happy, and is ready to dive into her new American life. By the end of the school year, she will likely look more like “Lisa, American Teen” than “Lisa, German Teen.”
Lisa will spend her exchange year in Minneapolis, attending Southwest High School She is excited to join the tennis team this fall, and has a long list of things she wants to see and experience during her exchange year: everything from learning how to make pancakes to riding a snowmobile to seeing a drive-in movie.
Lisa is a part of North Star Rotary Youth Exchange, which will welcome 65 students to Rotary districts 5950-5960 from 25 countries.
