Wanted: Global Grant Scholars

An incredible educational opportunity awaits you: up to $30,000 for a Masters degree at a foreign university in a major that relates to one of the Rotary Areas of Focus and would enhance your future career.

Qualifications Include:

  • Must live, work, attend school or have a permanent address in the Rotary District 5950 region (see www.portal.clubrunner.ca/50084/ClubsMap for the Rotary club nearest you.) Communities include Minneapolis and western suburbs, St. Cloud, Waconia, Alexandria, Sauk Centre, New Ulm and Fairmont.
  • Must be willing to establish a relationship with their sponsor club
  • Must submit an application by October 15, 2021
  • Interviews of qualified candidates takes place in November 2021
  • Study to commence Fall 2022 or Spring 2023
  • Cannot be a Rotarian or related to a Rotarian – to comply with Rotary Foundation rules

Examples of Study:

  • Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution: academic programs such as prevention/resolution, peace and justice studies, international relations or law with a specialization in peace and conflict.
  • Water and Sanitation: academic programs such as water science/engineering, water management, environmental science, epidemiology and parasitology.
  • Maternal and Child Health: academic programs such as epidemiology, nutrition, global health, public health, health promotion, nursing and medicine.
  • Education and Basic Literacy: academic programs such as education, literacy, curriculum development, special education, and school administration.
  • Economic and Community Development: academic programs such as social science degrees with a specific focus on economic and community development, business degrees tailored for social business and micro entrepreneurship or microcredit.
  • Disease Prevention and Treatment: academic programs such as public health and advanced degrees in nursing and medicine.
  • Support the Environment: academic programs in such areas as climate studies, sustainable agriculture, water ecosystems, food security, environmental education and renewable energy

 

First Steps: 

  • Go to www.Rotary5950.org and click on the Global Scholarship tab for information and the application.
  • Review the Scholarship Terms and Conditions to ensure that you qualify for the scholarship
  • Read the Areas of Focus Policy Statement to better understand Rotary’s Areas of Focus and possible fields of study
  • Contact your nearest Rotary club and ask if they’d be willing to sponsor your application. If you do not know your nearest Rotary club, or they say “no,” please contact Lynette Reini-Grandell (lynette.Reini-Grandell@normandale.edu).
  • Review and begin the application.
